The sciatic nerve is the main verve running from the centre of your back down your leg. Sciatica is a condition where the nerve becomes inflamed and creates a deep pain down the entire length. This is caused by muscle tension in the lower back and hip area.
There is a lot you can do at home to help your sciatica:
Improving mobility, strength, breathing exercises, pain relief, hot baths and essential oils such as lemongrass and clove all provide some relief.
Yet if your sciatica is chronic and you don’t seem to be able to get rid of it. It might be worth noticing when it ‘flares up’ or feels relief. Is it after sitting for a long time? In which case it would be beneficial to increase your exercise particularly creating mobility round the area. This could be dance, tai chi, yoga, pilates to create motion and flow.
Deb Shapiro in “Your Body Speaks Your Mind” speaks of the emotional issues affecting the back and legs.
“These may be issues to do with being able to stand up for yourself. Perhaps something is happening that you cannot take anymore and it is making you want to go in a different direction. Or perhaps you desperately need more support and cannot cope with everything on your own anymore.”
When we go deeper into pain and look at some of the emotional and trauma connections in my chakra healing programs, clients find that they have a completely new relationship with their body and their pain. They find themselves feeling more connected and empowered.
I would love to know what you think of this and whether you have found that by connecting to different emotions you have found pain relief and healing.
Sending love and healing
