Aromatherapy Practices for Autumn

Slowing into the autumn months is all about listening to your body and the seasons. The colder air can make your chest feel tight as you transition outside from inside, this time of the year may have an emotional connection for you, it is good to be aware of this and know what it means to you. I have made a list of three ways that aromatherapy and the plant spirits can support you and your family at this time.

First of all, Sleep. Did you know that we are designed to get more rest with the shorter days and less sunshine? Preparing your body for sleep with aromatherapy is a really nourishing practice.

Using oils in the bath, giving yourself a facial massage to release any tension in your body before spraying your pillow with a pillow spray sets the scene perfectly.

Three oils I recommend for sleep are: Valerian, Ylang Ylang and Chamomile Roman

The Air: The air is colder and our airways are being challenged by infections and viruses. It is really lovely to have air cleansing blends in the diffuser to open up the airways and help your body fight infections.

Three diffuser oils I recommend are: Marjoram, Eucalyptus and Lemon (no more than 6 drops altogether)

Chest rubs: This is such a lovely practice to nourish your family. Rub their backs, chest and sinus areas with a decongestant oil to help fight infections, boost immune systems and help them stay well.

Three decongestant oils I recommend are: Ravensara, Pine Scotch and Lemongrass

Enjoy your autumn!

Take advantage of the longer evenings and pick up that crafty project you’ve been thinking about, enjoy some lemon and ginger tea by the fire and tell those soulful stories that only you know.

With love,

Emily xx
